History

The company behind the Freebit® brand, Metafax, was incorporated in Oslo, Norway, in March 2003. The development of the FreeBit® solution started in the late 90’s, and a unique set of ergonomic features was finally awarded with a patent in Norway for its breakthrough in November 2000. Already in 2002 an FM receiver - transmitter solution in the patented design was presented to the market.
In 2004 new owners were brought into the company, followed by new management, in order to commercialise the patented rights. Early in 2005 a new strategic partnering model was put in action. This year, distribution agreements are being signed.
